How To: Interlocking Dots Nail Art

Good morning everyone. I don't know about you but I love the interlocking dots design on nails, specially on short nails it looks amazing. So I thought I would do a tutorial on how to achieve it because it might be a little bit confusing when you will try to do it just by looking at a picture. For me it is one of the easiest nail designs you can do and you can make it pop by using nail polishes with vivid color difference or make it more discrete by using kinda similar colors. Because I wanted the design to pop I used white and coppery nail polishes and here is the final result:

I don't know about you but I really like it! I would say that interlocking dots design looks better on short nails than on long but hey, if you have long nails go ahead and try and see if you like it :D.

If you want to see how to do this then click here to watch my YouTube video and maybe you will subscribe later! :)
What do you think of this design? Do you like the interlocking dots designs? Let me know in the comments below.

EOTD: Neutral Purple and Tutorial

Hello everyone, any exciting plans for the weekend? Today I wanted to do an eotd post because I haven't done one in a while. I didn't have time to take pictures of the whole face but to be honest I didn't do something special, some powder foundation, bronzer and sheer lip gloss. For the eyes I wanted something neutral but with purple touch so here the final result:
Neutral Purple Eye Makeup
This a very simple everyday eye makeup, nothing dramatic. I didn't want very vivid purple on the lid so I toned it down.
Products used:
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk
- The 1st,2nd,3rd and 10th eyeshadows from the first row and the 5th from the second row from NYX Nude on Nude palette
- Urban Decay AC/DC eyeshadow
- e.l.f. liquid eyeliner
- Benefit bad girl mascara

How to:
- First apply the primer and the eyeshadow base.
- Next with a fluffy brush like Sigma E35 add an eyeshadow close to your skin tone(3rd from Nude on Nude) in the crease and blend it well.
- Apply the purple eyeshadow( UD AC/DC) all over the lid with an eyeshadow brush like Sigma E55.
- With a dome shape brush like Sigma E45 add some dark brown eyeshadow (5th from Nude on Nude) in the outer corner and bring it slightly into the crease.
- Use a matte beige eyeshadow ( 1st from Nude on Nude) to highlight under the brow and for inner corner use a shimmery beige eyeshadow( 2nd from Nude on Nude).
- Because the purple was a bit too bright I used the matte beige with a fluffy brush and kinda dust it over the purple lightly.
- Line half the the lash line with liquid eyeliner and wing it out. For the other half use a push brush like MAC 212 and a black eyeshadow.
- Apply few coats of mascara and you're done
- Enjoy :D

What do you think of the eye makeup? Let me know in the comments below :)

Halloween Nail Art Challenge: Spider Web

And I'm back with the 3rd design for Halloween Nail Art Challenge. Today's theme is Spider Web and this is my Spider Web Nail Art.

Halloween Nail Art: Spider Web

Halloween Nail Art: Spider Web

Halloween Nail Art: Spider Web
I was debating with myself what color should I use for the background, I was between deep red, black and this kinda peachy nude color which I ended up choosing :). Because I'm not huge fan of spiders I made a little spider which is kinda cute and not scary.
I will upload a video tutorial for this tomorrow on my YouTube channel so make sure to subscribe to be notified when I will upload this tutorial but also many over tutorials in the month of October :).
What do you think of this tombstone nail art? Let me know in the comments below :)

Halloween Nail Art Challenge: Pumpkin

Hey hey everybody. So i finally decided to join a nail art challenge, I wanted to challenge myself and since this one isn't everyday I think I can manage to be on time. I will record tutorials for each of the manicures I will do and will upload the to my YouTube channel so you can recreate my manicure if you want.
This challenge will be actual fun and weird in a way because in Greece the Halloween isn't in October but in February so I don't know what people who will see me here with horror related mani will think about me haha but hey, I don't care I'm gonna do whatever I want on my nails :P.
I normally should have posted the 1st one yesterday but I ran out of nail polish remover and it was Sunday and the stores were closed so basically I had to wait till Monday to remove my old mani and do a new one.I present you my Halloween pumpkin nail art design :D

As you can see I wanted to do cute pumpkins and not scary ones. I did pumpkins only on my ring and pointing fingers the rest are simply orange. And here are all the themes:

Here is the video tutorial so you can recreate this mani if you want. If you do so, feel free to tweet me @AnneColt your picture.

How to Get the Perfect Eyebrows

Hello everyone. Many times in real life and online people ask me about my eyebrows, whether I had the done professionally or not,etc... So I thought I would make this post where I will talk a bit about eyebrows and will show you my eyebrow routine and how you can get the perfect eyebrows :).
For me, and probably many other people, eyebrows are very important. You whole face can changes when you have well-shaped eyebrows.

Let me first say that I had never ever done them professionally. To be honest the reason is because I don't trust them, I prefer to do everything myself and if I won't like the final result I will blame myself and not someone else plus I don't want to pay for something I might not like eventually. I know many will say professionals know more than me etc etc, but hey that's just the way I think, I'm not saying you should do the same nor I'm saying that my way is the best or the right :)...

So if you still young or if you haven't plucked your eyebrows, let me tell you what I did when I first started plucking them. First, I looked closely into a mirror and tried to find my natural shape. My eyebrows were a bit bushy at first so looking close to a mirror helped to kinda find the shape. Don't try to go from straight eyebrow to a high-arch eyebrow because you most likely won't end up with a good result, your natural shape is the one that fits your face the most.Next, with a white pencil I colored the hair I would pluck, this will help you see the final shape more easily. Imagine the white pencil like an eraser, whatever you color white is being erased. After that with tweezers I plucked all the white hair. To avoid mistakes plucked few hairs at time and check back how is your shape.

You probably know that there are 3 "rules" on how you should shape your eyebrows. Well when I shaped my eyebrows I didn't really know about those rules but at the end it was like I followed 2 out of 3. I won't include them here mostly because many already may know them, but you can search on Google if you want. One rule I won't follow is where the eyebrow should start. Normally you should line the outermost of your nose and the inside of your eye and that's where your eyebrow should start. I don't follow it simply because that way my nose will look wider. I'm not saying become unibrow ,hehe, but if you followed that "rule" try to bring your eyebrows about half of inch in and see the difference ( gossmakeupartist on YouTube also mentioned that).

Ok that's all I wanted to mention about eyebrows shaping. Now onto the tutorial and my eyebrow routine. I'm very lucky with my eyebrows, they are quite full so I don't need to do a lot. To be honest on daily bases I rarely fill them in, I just use a clear mascara to set my eyebrow in place and prevent the hair from sticking in different directions.
Many makeup artist also says that you should brush up the hair and trim the part that kinda stick out of shape. Well I do that only for the front part as those hairs grow upwards whereas the rest kinda sideways so I don't trim them and that way I have a fuller eyebrows.
How to Get the Perfect Eyebrows
1: With tweezers pluck any hair that have grown back. I don't use any fancy tweezers, I have the same 3 euro pair for years now. I know, it's not easy to find cheap tweezers that work good.
2: With an old clear mascara wand I brush up the front hairs.
3: With scissors I trim the hair that stick out of the shape.
4: For filling I actually use an eyeshadow and a push brush like MAC 212. The eyeshadow is the Shade 5 from MUA Undressed palette.
I really like the gradient effect for eyebrows. To achieve it I first start filling the middle part, then the end and finally I bring it inwards. For the front part I fill it with whatever eyeshadow left on the brush and that way I achieve the kinda gradient effect. Something I want to mention is even if you have black eyebrows like me don't ever ever use black eyeshadow, pencil or brow powder to fill in your eyebrows, it will be too harsh. I usually choose one that is couple shades lighter than my hair.
5: Finally I use a clear mascara from e.l.f. to set everything in place and prevent the hair from sticking all different directions.
If you want for your eyebrow to stand out even more use a white pencil to outline the eyebrow on top and bottom and then blend it.
As for highlighting under the brow, I usually use matte eyeshadow (1) and I add a shimmery eyeshadow at the highest point (2).

So that was my tutorial and tips, hope you enjoyed the post. Let me know what you think in the comments below.

EOTD: Blue and Purple + Tutorial

Hello everyone, cloudy and rainy weekend here in Greece. So I was bored yesterday and I decided to play with some colorful eyeshadows and I came up with a really pretty look with blue, purple and brown eyeshadows.
Summer Blue and Purple Eye Makeup

To be honest as a girl who pretty much always uses neutral colors I've been always afraid of wearing colors such as blue and purple. So I decided to overcome my fear and start using those colors. When you are wearing neutral eyeshadows you don't have to pay that much attention to the rest of your outfit to do not end up looking like a rainbow whereas with colorful eyeshadows you have to pay attention, at least in my opinion. So back to the look. It isn't hard to create but it does require quite enough blending as I used quite a few eyeshadows.
Products
e.l.f. Eyelid Primer
NYX Jumbo Pencil in milk
Shade 1 and 5 from the MUA Undressed Palette
Shade 4,10,13 from MUA Immaculate Collection palette
Bossy Bobbi, Feisty Felicia and Caught in the act Courtney and Devilish Danielle from theBalm Shady Lady Vol 2
Lancome Hypnose Drama mascara
e.l.f. Liquid eyeliner
Brushes
Most of the brushes are from Sigma
Tutorial
- First apply your primer and/or eyeshadow base.
- Using a dome shape brush like Sigma E45 add the Shade 5(matte brown) in the crease and blend it.
- With eyeshadow brush like Sigma E55 apply the Shade 10 (blue) all over the lid leaving out the inner corner.
- With the same dome shape brush ( E45) pick up a small amount of caught in the act courtney ( dark brown) and blend it in the outer half part of the crease.
- Next with the same or another dome shape brush apply the Shade 13(purple) in crease and blend it. Build up the color so when it is blended it looks like a slightly dark purple like you see in the picture.
- With a fluffy brush like Sigma E35 add the Bossy Bobbi ( dark blue) to the outer 1/3 of the lid and slightly blend it inwards.
- With the same brush ( E35) pick a small amount of the Shade 4 (black) and darker up the very outer corner.
- Now with another fluffy brush or angled brush like Sigma E70 use some light beige, close to you skin color, eyeshadow (Shade 1) and blend the eyeshadow under the eyebrow.
- With a flat brush like MAC 252 add the Devilish Danielle (champagne color) under the brow at the highest point,in the inner corner and on 1/3 of the lower lid.
- Next add the same purple( Shade 10) with a pencil brush like MAC 219 on the rest of your lower lid.
- To line your lower lash line use small amount of black or grey eyeshadow with a push brush like MAC 212.
- Using liquid eyeliner, line your lid and wing it out.
- Lastly apply your mascara and you are done :)
- Enjoy!

Guest Post: Perfect winged eyeliner tutorial

Hi everyone!  I'm Mali from Maliberry Makeup and I am going to be doing a guest post for Anne today :)  I hope you all enjoy :)  I tend to ramble a bit so sorry if I go on a bit!

Today I'm going to be talking through how I apply winged eyeliner.  Black winged eyeliner and a bold lip are such a classic look, but mastering that killer flick on the eye can be a little tricky!  Liquid eyeliner is something I think brings together any look, and I use it incredibly regularly, so I like to think I'm okay at applying it.  I'm by no means an expert, but this is how I get that classic cat-eye winged eyeliner :)
Before I start I thought I'd talk a little about the different kinds of liquid eyeliner you can get.  Probably the easiest type to use are felt tip liners such as the one on the far left.  These are essentially like drawing with a pen!  In the middle we have the classic liquid liner brush which is soft and usually carries more liquidy product - this can be a little harder to control because of the softer design to the brush.  On the right is a stiff point liner which doesn't have any give to it so is easier to control.  However, this stiffness can catch on the sensitive skin around the eyes
Gel/cream liners are known for their incredible colour pay-off and long lasting power.  They are very soft in texture and  require a brush to apply.  There are different kinds of brushes including short bristle brushes, longer, thinner brushes and angled flat brushes.  I personally prefer the angled flat brush as you can draw many different shapes, lines and designs by using different parts of it
On to the actual eye
Before you start, you may want to apply eye primer.  I don't if I'm wearing eyeliner by itself as I feel it glides over bare skin better but this is personal preference!
To apply eyeliner I sit at my desk and rest my elbow on it.  My hand rests on my cheek as I hold the liner to keep it steady and I move it by flexing my fingers.  My first line starts around a centimetre in from the inner corner and I draw in short little movements towards the outer corner of my eye.  It's sort of like sketching a line rather than drawing it in one single movement.  I keep my eye closed during this part!
I then half-open my eye and draw from the inner corner in short sketchy movements until it joins  the line I've already drawn
I then open my eye fully and extend the line into the outer corner of my eye, again using short sketchy movements.  This ensures  it's slow and steady and ensures I keep the line as straight as possible
I then extend the line further out into a flick.  This part is purely up to you how you do it - you can tweak the angle of the flick, how curved it is, how long it is... I personally like quite a long, exaggerated flick that's relatively straight out from the eye.  I draw it very lightly initially and then trace over it when I'm happy with it.  A tip to mention here is that a cotton bud dipped in eye makeup remover or moistened in your mouth (icky, but effective!) is perfect for erasing the line if you make a mistake

Finally, I go over the entire line to thicken it as I quite like a bold line when using liquid eyeliner!  I also thicken the flick by drawing underneath it, again using short sketchy movements
Finish it off with kohl on the waterline and lashings of mascara :)  The important thing to remember is that the thickness of the line and the length of the flick and basically how in-your-face you want it to be is completely up to you!  I like to accentuate my eyes which is why I go all out :P
You can also skip the flick...
Make it more curved...
Mix it up with a double flick...
Or use different colours!  I love using bright eyeliner and then applying a dot of glitter eyeliner at the inner corner and  on the underside of the flick to add some sparkle :)
I tried to take photos of how I hold the liner as I went along but I really struggled so I'm afraid it's just my eye.  I really hope you found it helpful though!

Thanks Anne for letting me guest post <3  This is my first ever guest post so I hope I did okay :) Just remember that practice makes perfect - I'd love to see some other killer flicks on you lovely ladies :D

NOTD: Bow Nail Art

Hello my lovely readers. As you can see I changed my layout from 3 column to 2 column after yesterday's #bbloggers chat because many people do prefer 2 column layouts. I really hope you like it this way. So it's Monday today which means this post will be nail art tutorial. Unfortunately last week I had to cut my nails down because two of them broke :(. So this nail design is on short nails. It is great for long nails too but I prefer it on short. Its cute and easy to create if you ask me. Here's a picture.

And this is the video tutorial. Don't forget to subscribe to my youtube channel too :)

NOTD: Color Block Nails

Hello my lovely readers, happy Friday and hope everyone will have a great weekend. Today's post is NOTD. I really rarely change my nails within a week, I usually keep my manicure for about a week. I haven't done the color block style nails so I decided to do it this time. Here's what I came up with.

I did want something toned down so I chose a nude polish with 2 different pink colors. To make it more playful I altered the order of the pink colors as you can see on the picture. It super easy to create, here is the
tutorial:

  • First apply your base coat and let it dry.
  • Take a nude color of your choice and apply it as your background color.
  • After the background color is completely dry take 2 pieces of decorative tape and form an X on half of your nail. If you don't have decorative tape just cut two slim pieces of scotch tape.
  • Now take the first nail polish and fill the triangle that is at edge of your nail.
  • With your other nail polish fill the other 2 triangles, be careful to do not go other the triangle at edge of the nail.
  • Let the nail polishes dry for about 5 mins, or less if the nail polishes dry fast, and then peel off the 2 pieces of tape.
  • Apply your top coat and you're DONE.
  • Enjoy :)

Bridal Style Nail Design

Hello my lovely readers. Hope you had a good weekend, mine wasn't the best as I'm still sick and today I need to go to hospital :( . Enough with that. Today I reached 200+ followers and I'm really happy and grateful for each one of you my lovely readers.
This post is a nail tutorial.  For a while I wanted to do french manicure but I didn't want the typical white tip and nothing else so I decided to add some decorations and here's the result.

In my opinion this is great not only for everyday manicure but also for special occasions like parties and
wedding. This would be great as bridal manicure :). Here is the video tutorial and don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to my youtube channel, I post new videos every Monday.

What do you think of this design?
If you will recreate this please feel free to send me on twitter @AnneColt your pictures.

NOTD with tutorial

Yesterday I was thinking of nail design while I was looking at my nail polishes. I wanted to do something simple but fun with bright colors and this is what popped in my head :).
At first, to be honest, I didn't quite like this but now I do :). I used two colors for the tips of the nail and I altered their order. For the background color I used sheer frosty white  and for the tip I used orange ( OPI Bright lights big color) and pinkish purple color.
How to:
-Start with you base coat to protect your natural nails
-Apply a a light coat of sheer frosty white nail polish
-After the base color is semi dry, grab one of the 2 nail polishes of your choice,in my case the pinkish purple,  and create triangular french tip starting a bit below the line between the nail and the tip
-After that color is semi dry, grab your second color , in my case OPI Bright Lights Big Color, and create another triangular french tip leaving some space between the two colors.
-With white create few dots like you see in the picture.
-Apply your top coat and you're done :D

What do you think of this one?
Hope everyone will have a great weekend :D

Nails with studs

Hello my lovely readers :)
First of all I want to say,in case you didn't notice,I bought my own domain name. No .blogspot.com in the url, from now on fashionynails.com
So for while now I was thinking of nail design which would include studs. I didn't want to do something that would look too much so this is what I came up with.

As you can see it's fairly simple nail design and easy to recreate. Of course you can use other colors but
there are 2 reasons why I chose baby pink. First is that this nail polish is new and I never wore it so I wanted to try it and second is that I didn't want to use the standard black or dark olor specially since I really like baby pink color. :) Here is the tutorial:
