Hey everyone. Sorry for the lack of posts but this week I've been feeling so down and tired that I didn't want to sit in front of computer for more than an hour. Now I'm feeling better and I'm back in action, i think lol. Today's post is a review of an amazing high end foundation, Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation. I was very lucky and won this during Illamasqua's Christmas giveaway. And I was lucky again because I guessed the right shade for me, shade 6 is almost perfect for me. I've been using it for quite a while now and I really really like it!
What they say:
"Inspired by the cult Asian market Beauty Balm creams, Skin Base Foundation is a brand new, refined formula unlike anything on the UK market. Easily blendable, it effortlessly creates a perfect complexion, and like the entire Illamasqua foundation range, is undetectable in a professional HD environment. Suitable for all skin types, it smoothes, softens and conditions your skin whilst providing natural, buildable coverage."My thoughts:
First of, lets talk about the coverage: I would say with one application you get a medium coverage and it's definitely buildable to full. It evens out the skin tone and covers the redness I have around my nose and cheeks perfectly.
The finish is something between matte and dewy, what I call "natural looking" finish, because no one has 100% matte skin.
Now the staying power: It's definitely a long lasting foundation, I put it on "test drive" at the New Years Eve party I went. I've been wearing it for about 7 hours and during this time I've been dancing nonstop for about 3 hours. Surprisingly it looked almost like I just put it on, of course it faded a little bit but it didn't melted or whatsoever as I would expected after so much dancing.
The packaging is a nice squeezy tube but it's quite sturdy and you have to put some pressure on to squeeze it. You can easily control the amount of foundation that comes out but I think I will have hard time to squeeze out the foundation when very little will be left in the tube.
There are 17 shades to choose from, which is pretty good selection of colors in my opinion. I just noticed that Illamasqua has a guide on their website which will help you to find the shade you need because they compare the Skin Base foundation shades to popular foundation from MAC,NARS etc.
The only disadvantage I could say is the price. It's not cheap at all because it's high end product, it costs £27 plus shipping if you don't have an Illamasqua counter near you.
Overall I love this foundation but if you prefer foundations with lighter coverage this is not for you, although with the right application you could get a light coverage.
You can buy from the Illamasqua website for £27
