MUA Going for Gold Review and Swatches

Hello my lovely readers... About a week or so I received my order from MUA which included the Going for Gold palette and some other goodies... Few weeks back MUA announced a limited eyeshadow palette for the Olympics. Me and many other people thought that the palette would have the colors from the Olympics rings but instead the palette has mixture of grey, gold and brown colors. I must say that at the first look I was a bit disappointed with it but after looking at some swatches and pictures of the Going for Gold palette I really liked it. Let's have a look at some pictures

The packaging is same black plastic with transparent lid that other MUA eyeshadow palettes have but this ,
as you can see, has square pans for the eyeshadow instead of round that the MUA palettes usually have. Because of the square pans you get more products for each color but you get only 10 shades instead of 12.
Now let's look at some swatches.

(i used tiny amount of elf eyelid primer)
The eyeshadows are mostly shimmery, the shades 2 and 6 are matte and the shade 1 semi matte. All of them are pigmented but I would suggest to use an eyeshadow primer and/or eyeshadow base to get the most pigment out of the eyeshadows. They are a bit powdery and might see small amount of fallout with some eyeshadows. What I noticed while using these eyeshadows is that with the shades 4,5 and 10 in order to get a good amount on the brush you kinda need to dip into eyeshadow more than once or twice. This "problem" disappears after using the eyeshadows couple times.

As always on the back of the palette you will find the eyeshadow numbering, a mini tutorial for eye makeup and the ingredients.
Overall I would say this is a good palette for someone who likes this kind of colors. I quite like it although I am not a huge fan of grey eyeshadows. I have already created 2 looks using this palette that you can find here and here and probably will have more in the future. The only negative is that the eyeshadows contain parabens.
You can buy it online from the MUA store for £4 plus shipping.

Do you own this palette? What do you think of it?

  1. I like how there's a lot of gold shades to choose from! But it sucks that it contains parabens, I really try to stay away from products with those :/ xoxo

    1. Many drugstore brands' eyeshadows do contain parabens.Once I saw a video or read an article(i dont exactly remember where)where a doctor,i think, was saying that the amount of parabens the cosmetics may contain is too small to do any harm to human.
